Description

This is a 26-inch insulated Perfecto built for street wear and urban riding, not high-speed or sport use. The jacket uses mid-weight aniline-finished cowhide that’s chrome-tanned and drum-dyed. Aniline means the leather retains visible grain and pore structure with minimal surface coating—it will mark, scuff, and patina with use. The pebbled texture comes from tumbling, which relaxes the fiber structure without thinning the hide. At 2.75–3.25 oz, this is lighter than traditional heavyweight Perfectos and breaks in quickly.

The asymmetrical front zipper, snap lapels, and offset belt are retained from the original 613 design, but the 519 is cut slimmer through the body and arms. The shorter back length and tighter sleeve fit reduce bulk for casual riding and daily wear. This is not a touring or long-distance jacket—it’s optimized for upright riding positions on cruisers, standards, or retro bikes in cooler weather.

The large single back panel eliminates center seams, which improves shoulder rotation and reduces pressure points across the upper back. A bi-swing action pleat spans the shoulders to allow forward reach without restricting arm movement when gripping bars. The quilted 3 oz polyfill liner adds thermal insulation but limits breathability in warmer conditions.

Construction & Riding Functionality

  • Single-panel back construction: No vertical seam = less stress concentration and better flex across shoulder blades
  • Bi-swing back pleat: Expands 2–3 inches during forward lean to prevent binding in sport or standard riding positions
  • 26-inch back length: Shorter than the 28″ 613—reduces bunching when seated but leaves lower back exposed at speed
  • Slim arm cut: Tighter through bicep and forearm; less wind flap, but may restrict layering or armor fitment
  • No underarm gussets: Cleaner profile but less range of motion compared to 613
  • Zippered sleeve cuffs with wind flaps: Adjustable closure to seal out wind; flap snaps over zipper to prevent snagging

Hardware & Internal Details

  • Nickel-plated brass zipper: Main front closure—heavy-duty but prone to patina and requires occasional lubrication
  • Snap-down lapels and collar: Storm flap configuration; collar can stand or fold for wind protection around neck
  • Attached belt with buckle and secondary snap: Belt stabilizes jacket at waist; added snap keeps buckle from sliding when uncinched
  • Three external zippered pockets + coin flap: Hand warmers on sides, chest pocket on left; coin pocket is decorative
  • Internal map pocket: Lower inside panel for larger flat items—wallet, documents, small tools
  • Quilted nylon liner: 100% nylon shell with 3 oz diamond-quilted polyfill; fixed (non-removable)
  • Epaulets with “One Star” detail: Double-needle stitched; functional for strap retention or decorative

Intended Rider Use

  • Riding style: Urban commuting, short-distance cruising, heritage/retro bikes—not sport or aggressive riding
  • Climate: Cool to cold weather (40–60°F); insulated liner limits ventilation in warm conditions
  • Rider type: Street riders prioritizing style and casual protection over track or touring performance
  • Posture compatibility: Best suited to upright or slightly forward positions; not optimized for aggressive sport tuck
  • Abrasion resistance: Mid-weight cowhide provides moderate slide resistance but not comparable to 4+ oz competition hides or reinforced race gear

This jacket favors aesthetics and casual wearability over maximum protection or long-distance comfort. The leather will soften and darken with exposure but requires no conditioning due to the aniline finish retaining natural oils.
